Based in Glasgow, I currently work as a Costume Trainee in film and television, with the goal of progressing to Costume Junior and continuing to explore other areas of the industry and live productions. Working in costume has always been my dream, and it’s a career I genuinely love. No two days are ever the same, and every project brings new challenges, skills, and opportunities to learn.
After graduating in 2017 with a BA (Hons) in Costume Interpretation with Design from The Northern School of Art, I spent over five years working as an artisan sewing machinist, specialising in waxed canvas and Harris Tweed manufacturing and repairs. That experience gave me a strong technical foundation, an eye for detail, and an appreciation for craftsmanship.
With each new job, I continue to discover different aspects of the costume department, and that’s one of the things I enjoy most about the industry. Over time, I’ve found myself particularly drawn to historical research, costume fittings, creative problem-solving, design, and the collaborative nature of bringing a production to life. There’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing a costume evolve from an initial idea through to the finished piece on screen or stage, and knowing you’ve played a part in that journey.
